(c. 1840 & 1860; slate roof added c. 1935; restored 1987; repaired c. 1996) A single-span Howe with Burr arch truss 92' 4" over Aquashicola Creek. Located: On Covered Bridge Road, Little Gap, Towamensing Township, Pennsylvania. Directions: In the village of Little Gap, on Covered Bridge Road. A plaque, on the interior of the bridge, indicates that the bridge was built between 1840 and 1860. A slate roof was added and the eves shortened circa 1935. This caused water damage to occur and to save the structure steel beams and deck were added in 1987. In January 1996, flooding caused the bridge to lose some of its siding. When photographed May 30, 2009, the damage had been repaired. The structure rests on concrete abutments with short stone and mortar wing walls. It is covered with barn red painted vertical tongue and grove boarding on both the sides and portals and the portals have been extended beyond the original truss system. It is open approximately three feet under the eves for ventilation and there is a large window opening that was added as part of the portal extension on the end where the road curves. The floor is steel grating and it has an asphalt shingled roof. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 1, 1980.
